While the Pittsburgh Steelers figure out the situation at quarterback, the team went out and addressed another major need over the weekend.

Longtime Seattle Seahawks WR DK Metcalf was acquired by the Steelers in exchange for a second-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Upon the deal being finalized, it was also reported Metcalf will sign a 5-year extension to stay in Pittsburgh worth approximately $150 million.

The Steelers are clearly rebooting in anticipation of competing in the AFC. Nabbing Metcalf is a good place to start. At only 27 years of age, he’s about to hit the apex point of his prime. The 6’5″ receiver is a freak of an athlete, and has established himself as a legitimate All-Pro talent.

Metcalf has played six NFL seasons, and he’s never accrued less than 900 yards in a single season. He’s also highly durable — starting in 93 of a possible 97 games throughout his career. The two-time Pro Bowler will pair with George Pickens to form what should be one of the better duos in all of football.

A big question is who will play QB for the Steelers this year. After Russell Wilson and Josh Fields manned the spot in 2024, rumors are circulating that Aaron Rodgers could come in and be the option for Mike Tomlin.

As for Seattle, this move was clearly designed with somewhat of a retooling in mind. The Seahawks will get out from having to give Metcalf an extension. By collecting draft capital in both the Metcalf and Geno Smith deals, Seattle is hoping to build a cheaper, younger roster.
