The Kansas City Chiefs were just shy of the fabled ‘three-peat’ at Super Bowl LIX on February 9th, losing to the Philidelphia Eagles by a score of 40-22. Had KC won, it would have been the first time in NFL history that any team would have accomplished the feat. Although the game was expected to be close on paper, the Eagles dominated much of the game, and it wasn’t until the dying minutes that the Chiefs were able to score.

Unfortunately, it was too little, too late.

Patrick Mahomes will now be intent on setting the record straight next year, according to Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu. Making an appearance on Thursday’s edition of Up & Adams with Kay Adams, Omenihu fired a warning shot to the rest of the league. When asked by Adams what the next 10 months will look like for Mahomes, he said:

“Revenge tour, I think. Just extreme focus, taking even more control of the organization. We’ll get my boy [Rashee] Rice back, and with how Xavier [Worthy] is playing,  we’ll figure out the rest of the pieces.”

He went on to explain that Mahomes has more drive than anyone to make a comeback:

“He probably felt like he didn’t have his best performance. Him being who he is, and being the best quarterback in the league, he wants to come back and have a big season.”

Omenihu joined the Chiefs from the San Francisco 49ers in 2023 and has suffered from a number of injury issues since, including a torn ACL that kept him out of nearly 50 percent of regular season games since his signing.

He is set to become an unrestricted free agent soon, and when asked by Adams if Super Bowl LIX was his last game as a Chief, he remained unsure but calm about his future:

“I mean, that definitely went through my head. It’s like, how long will it take to get back to this moment? When I talked to you last year, we won but I was hurt. I was fortunate enough to get back, I got to play. And we lose like that. So it’s like, darn, what happens if I don’t get back? I love prime-time games. I love playoff games because you make your name in those spaces. In the NFL, you never know how things will go.”
