Elite Basketball Prospect Alijah Arenas Reportedly in a Coma

Noted NBA reporter Shams Charania of ESPN reported Thursday morning that 5-star guard Alijah Arenas — the son of former NBA player Gilbert — was involved in a serious car accident.

Arenas is said to be hospitalized and in an induced coma. TMZ reported that Arenas was in a Tesla Cybertruck, and that a call came at 4:55 a.m. PT to aid those who were involved in the accident. The car was said to be on fire as responders came to the scene. The car reportedly crashed into a tree, and it was uncertain as to who was operating the vehicle.

The 18-year-old guard had signed with USC this past year. Electing to skip his senior year of high school and enroll in college early, Arenas established himself as one of the best guards in the country. Not only is he a legitimate athlete, but he plays the game with real pace, purpose, and skill similarly to that of his father.

Arenas averaged more than 30 PPG this year playing for Chatsworth High School. In an era where kids team up with one another to former super squads, Arenas opted to stay with his local public school as opposed to heading to nearby Sierra Canyon High School.
