The Hardy Boyz are set to return “home” to WWE and break a record in the process.

On February 25th, the Hardy Boyz will appear on WWE for the first time in nearly six years. They will enter NXT to face off against Tavion Heights and Myles Borne of the No Quarter Catch Crew after they accepted a challenge publicly aimed at the iconic tag team on TNA wrestling.

The return will signify a record-breaking moment for Matt Hardy. With his return tonight, he will break the record for the longest hiatus between appearances for WWE NXT. His last appearance was NXT’s very first episode, back in March 2010. This means that tonight will have been more than 15 years since his last appearance. The previous record was a 13-year and 9-month gap set by Carlito.

The Hardy Boyz are currently thriving as a pair on TNA Wrestling, currently holding the World Tag Team belts. They last wrestled on WWE back in 2019, defeating the Uso brothers for the tag-team championship. The absence of six years is also a record set to be broken by the Hardy brothers.

On a recent podcast of The Extreme Life, Matt explained the decision to return to NXT was spontaneous:

It was a very last-minute thing. It’s cool because everyone knows that TNA and NXT have this partnership right now, with TNA and WWE. It’s going to continue to expand, but has been beneficial to both brands.

The return of Jeff Hardy to WWE is also major considering his controversial exit in 2021. He refused to attend rehab after exhibiting unusual behavior ultimately leading to his release. After his DUI arrest, he went to rehab and thankfully got better.

Depending on the success of the appearance, it will be intriguing to see if this means more future bookings for the Hardy Boyz on WWE.
