Gearing up for his first competitive rounds of 2024, golf legend Tiger Woods has confirmed his participation in next week’s Genesis Invitational.
“Excited to be a playing host next week,” shared Woods.
Since his withdrawal from the 2023 Masters, Woods has participated in only one solo event, where he secured an 18th-place finish out of 20 players in the Hero World Challenge held in December. He also teamed up with his son Charlie to clinch a tie for fifth-place in the PNC Championship that same month.
The Genesis Invitational holds a significant place in Woods’ recent history, as it was the event he was attending when he was involved in a car crash in February 2021, resulting in major leg injuries.
Following last year’s Masters, Woods underwent surgery on his right ankle to address post-traumatic arthritis stemming from injuries sustained in the crash.
Notably, this event marks Woods’ first appearance since his longstanding partnership with Nike concluded last month after a remarkable 27-year run.
Scheduled to take place from Feb. 15-18 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, the Genesis Invitational is one of the PGA Tour’s highlighted events for 2024, boasting a substantial $20 million purse and expected to draw a top-tier field of competitors.
