Premier League Predictions: Match Week 23

Premier League match week 23 is here. Last weekend saw a handful of unexpected results. Relegation-threatened Everton defeated injury-stricken Tottenham Hotspur to claim a vital three points in their effort to avoid the drop. Ange Postecoglou’s side has nearly a dozen first-team players out injured, although center-back Christian Romero returning to training will come as very welcome news for Tottenham.

Manchester United lost 3-1 to Brighton at Old Trafford last weekend, and it reportedly led to new manager Ruben Amorim to ‘smash a giant television screen’ in the dressing room following the result. It also led him to remark that this is “the worst Manchester United team in history.” While that point is debatable, safe to say things aren’t going all too well at Old Trafford. They are currently 13th in the table and are coming up against a tricky Fulham side away from home this weekend.

The marquee match-up of the weekend is undoubtedly Manchester City vs. Chelsea. Despite the huge sums of money spent by both teams, they are struggling for consistent form. City may feel demoralized following Wednesday’s Champions League defeat to PSG, where they capitulated a 2-0 lead to lose 4-2 to put their qualification hopes in jeopardy. A win against Chelsea may be exactly what they need to get back to winning ways.
