The boys are back at AFC Richmond.

Or, should we say… girls.

The famed Apple+ hit show Ted Lasso is slated to return for a fourth season. Reports indicate that this season will pick up from where Season 3 left off. However, Coach Lasso (played by Jason Sudeikis) will coach the AFC Richmond women’s team.

Keeley (Juno Temple) is expected to rejoin the cast. Other core members from the first three seasons — Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Brett Goldstein — will all be back as Rebecca, Leslie Higgins, and Roy Kent, respectively. Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) reportedly is working with the writing team to craft the new season.

It’ll be interesting to see which other characters rejoin. Jamie Tartt — played by Phil Dunster — doesn’t appear to be returning as a series regular. We’ll have to wait and see on Nate (Nick Muhammad) as well.

The series’ Season 3 finale ended with Lasso returning to his native Kansas in order to become his son’s soccer coach. The women’s team for AFC Richmond had also been teased with a partnership between Rebecca and Keeley’s characters. Shooting for the series is said to begin in Kansas before presumably heading back across the pond.

How Kent will be integrated into the mix remains to be seen — and that also is the case with many of the beloved team members from the men’s squad.

The show popped up during the pandemic and became an immediate hit. In a time of stress, ambiguity, and general unhappiness, Ted Lasso offered a reprieve footed in positivity and good vibes. It also illustrated the growing interest in soccer across the United States.
