Mohamed Salah has claimed yet another Premier League Player of the Month award for February. It equals the record for most all-time POTM awards with seven — the same amount as prolific strikers Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero.
Salah has been relentless in the Premier League all season long, but had a particularly brilliant February, where he scored six goals and provided four assists which saw him elevate his case for the coveted Ballon d’Or award. These include a brace against Bournemouth, a goal and assist in a vital 2-0 win over Manchester City, and goals against Everton, Wolves, and Aston Villa. It is the second time this season he has won the award, with the other being in November.
The award now brings him level with Kane and Aguero, who are the 2nd and 5th all-time Premier League goalscorers, respectively. Salah is tied with Aguero for most goals scored with 184, and only needs three more goals to eclipse Andrew Cole in fourth with 187 — something he is widely expected to achieve this season with nine league games left to play.
At 32, the ‘Egyptian King’ has shown little signs of slowing down. In fact, it seems he is now hitting his peak. His 43 goal involvements (goals + assists) in the Premier League this season broke the record set by former Liverpool player Luis Suarez with 42 goal involvements in the 2013/14 season.
