United States Mens National Team head coach Mauricio Pochettino insists he hasn’t closed the door on his Premier League story.

Before being hired as the US national team coach, Pochettino managed an array of European club teams including Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Southampton. But the club he spent the most time at, Tottenham Hotspur, still holds a special place in his heart.

Speaking to English media outlet Sky Sports, the Argentinian admitted that he would be open to a return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium one day.

“Look, obviously I’m not going to say right now because I’m with the USA. After spending five or six years there, I still feel it in my heart, that yes, I would like one day to come back,” said Pochettino.

The 53-year-old managed Tottenham from 2014 to 2019, and famously reached the Champions League final in 2019. Spurs navigated a challenging group stage, finishing second behind Barcelona. In the knockout rounds, they beat Borussia Dortmund, completed a thrilling extra-time win over Manchester City in the quarter-finals, and pulled another upset against a surging Ajax team in the Champions League semi-final. However, they fell 2-0 to Liverpool in the final on June 1st.

He also insists he has a good relationship with Spurs owner Daniel Levy, despite being sacked by the club.

“Nearly six years being together and all that we lived through, it was tough because of all the ups and downs, and emotional things,” he said.

“But we split very well. It was professional… We always have a very good relationship.”

Pochettino will have his first opportunity to win silverware with the USMNT this week in the Concacaf Nations League, where they play Panama in the semi-final on March 20th. Should they win, it would set up a showdown against either Mexico or Canada on Sunday, March 23rd for the prize.
