HBO, in collaboration with the United States Soccer Federation, will be producing a docuseries following the United States Mens National Team camps in the lead-up to the 2026 World Cup. This upcoming World Cup tournament is set to be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico in unison, highlighting the expectations of the squad with their home-field advantage. The series is set to stream on MAX and air on HBO in 2026.
The series, currently untitled, has already begun production and will follow the camp over the course of four years, beginning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar where the USMNT performed admirably. Now, under the guidance of new manager Mauricio Pochettino, they will look to improve beyond their World Cup round of 16 exit where they lost to the Netherlands 3-1.
The 2026 World Cup is set to be historic, with an expanded format of 48 teams (previously 32) which are split into 12 groups of four. The top two teams will advance into the knockout rounds, while the 3rd seeded teams will play off against each other in qualifier matches. It is the first time the World Cup will feature so many participants, making it literally the biggest World Cup yet. It will kick off at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico on June 11th, 2026, and will conclude at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The USMNT will be led by new manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has major experience managing some of the world’s biggest clubs such as PSG, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.
HBO, who is no stranger to sports documentaries, is marketing this series as an “unprecedented” look inside the USMNT camp. The premium streaming and television network has also produced Hard Knocks, a behind-the-scenes docu-series following a variety of NFL teams in preparation for new seasons.
