Christian Pulisic Shines in AC Milan’s 3-2 Comeback Win

The American’s stellar season continues.

Christian Pulisic scored a penalty and was the driving force behind AC Milan’s comeback Serie A win over Parma on Sunday. He is the club’s top goal scorer in all competitions and has the most g/a in the team. Since the start of last season, he has 41 goal contributions in all competitions. By this point, he has made a name for himself as one of the most in-form players in Italy since his return from injury.

After conceding in the first half, AC Milan won a penalty after the Parma goalkeeper was judged to have pushed Strahinja Pavlovic during a corner kick. Pulisic confidently stepped up to score the penalty and equalize before halftime. In the second half, Parma took the lead again after Enrico Del Prato poked home a rebound in the 80th minute to a stunned San Siro crowd. Milan won the game late thanks to two stoppage-time goals from Tijjani Reijnders and Samuel Chukwueze.

Pulisic wasn’t the only American to make a huge impact for the Rossoneri, Yunus Musah also had a great game and assisted for Reijnders’ goal. It was a sweet line-breaking through-ball that beat two defenders — an assist that Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta would have been proud of.

However, the events of the match were mostly overshadowed by the actions of new AC Milan manager Sérgio Conceição, who appeared to have an explosive argument with his player Davide Calabria after the final whistle. The Portuguese gaffer had to be separated by teammates. After the game, he clarified the situation:

“I am on edge every day (laughter). I watch the games and listen to them with a lot of passion. There was a bit more adrenaline. There was a game situation that I spoke about with Calabria and there were a few words too many in my opinion.

For me, all players are important, like a family. If I have a son who misbehaves, I tell him. And here it’s the same. There’s no hypocrisy: we tell each other things like men. True, it wasn’t nice, but that’s normal in football, we’re not in church.”

New Manchester City loanee Kyle Walker was spotted alongside AC Milan senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic in attendance at the match. Due to work permit regulations, the veteran right-back will not be able to play for his new club until next month.
