Christian Pulisic can breathe a sigh of relief.
Fans were concerned after the American appeared to sustain an injury in yesterday’s Serie A match vs Como after colliding with Marc-Oliver Kempf, and went down clutching the back of his leg and forcing him to be substituted just before halftime.
Pulisic recently returned from an ankle injury earlier this month, having been out since December. He made an immediate impact by scoring a penalty in the Italian Supercoppa semifinal against Juventus 2-1, and then scored in the final against rivals Inter to lift the trophy.
Thankfully, AC Milan today revealed that Pulisic avoided a major injury and will be able to participate in training sessions in the coming days. The Rossoneri will also be hoping that the American will be available for their crucial Serie A match vs. Juventus this weekend.
Despite the injuries, Pulisic remains one of the most in-form players in Italy this season, leading his club with 10 goals and 7 assists in 23 appearances.
New AC Milan manager Sérgio Conceição has gotten off to a good start since taking over the helm just after the New Year, lifting the Supercoppa trophy and going unbeaten in four matches. Their 2-1 victory over Como lifted them to seventh in the Serie A table, just one place shy of qualifying for European competition.
Pulisic should return for AC Milan’s Champions League match vs. Girona next Wednesday, where they are currently in 12th place and look good to qualify for the competition’s knockout rounds.
