According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Wilson’s deal includes $10.5 million guaranteed. The Super Bowl champion QB also had discussions with the Pittsburgh Steelers about returning for a second season and spoke with the Cleveland Browns, as well. A 10-time Pro Bowler, Wilson is the second veteran QB to join the Giants in the past few days.
Reports linked Wilson and the Giants last offseason, but the veteran ultimately signed a one-year deal with the Steelers. A calf injury delayed the start of Wilson’s season with the Steelers, resulting in Justin Fields starting the first six games of the season at QB. Wilson claimed the starting gig in Week 7 and led Pittsburgh to a 6-1 record over his first seven starts.
However, Wilson’s production dropped down the stretch and the team suffered as a result. Pittsburgh lost five in a row — including a playoff loss to the rival Baltimore Ravens — to end the year, with Wilson throwing for six touchdowns and four interceptions during the skid. The future Hall of Famer will now take over a New York team that finished 3-14 last season in a division that features the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and the ascending Washington Commanders — the team Philadelphia beat in the NFC Championship.
