Ryan Conwell (Xavier)
Conwell is in many ways emblematic of the changing landscape within the sport. With him opting to leave Xavier, Conwell will now be looking for his fourth school in four years. He began his career at South Florida before moving to Indiana State and eventually Xavier. Last year for the Musketeers, he was the leader of the team. A big, strong lead guard at 6’4″, he averaged 16.5 PPG on 45 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from three. While it’s unknown as to where he’ll end up, some believe he may follow Sean Miller to Texas.
Donovan Dent (New Mexico)
Dent is the big name in the portal at this point. The Southern California native averaged more than 20 PPG this past year en route to becoming the Mountain West Player of the Year. A handful of reports have come out over the last couple of days pertaining to Dent’s future. Most feel as if this could be a UCLA-Kentucky battle. The Wildcats and Bruins both need a point guard — though UCLA could have an edge here considering it’s the hometown school, and Dent’s good friend Eric Freeny plays on the team. It’ll be interesting to see how this recruitment unfolds. With essentially the entire core of this year’s team returning for UCLA, adding Dent would likely make the Bruins a preseason top-five team in 2025-26.
Magoon Gwath (SDSU)
Malik Reneau (Indiana)
Reneau was a big recruit upon signing with Indiana. He was initially a starter for Mike Woodson before being moved to a bench role during the tumultuous Hoosiers season. There’s still a lot to like about his upside as a player. The Florida native is a legit 6’9″ with combo forward skills and decent athletic ability. While not a major threat from three, the soon-to-be senior is very efficient at scoring in the paint. Reneau has averaged double-figures in each of the last two years, and should have no shortage of interest from high major programs. North Carolina and Clemson appear to be rumored parties.
Pop Isaacs (Creighton)
Isaacs is easily one of the more prolific guards in the portal. He’s averaged double-figures in each of his three years in college. This occurred twice for Texas Tech and once this past year for Creighton. When you’ve got a senior guard that can score from all levels, interest will be high. Isaacs likely will command a fair amount of NIL money for a team in need of a mature lead guard. Having said that, he’ll be coming off hip surgery, which limited him to eight games this season. Indiana and others could be in the hunt for the senior.
