Nick Saban To Join ESPN as College Football Analyst

In a move many expected, former Alabama head coach Nick Saban has been officially hired by ESPN as a football analyst.

Saban surprised many by calling it quits this past offseason. The most decorated coach in the history of College Football, Saban left after winning a combined seven National Championships (one with LSU, six with Alabama). Making the move to television makes a ton of sense. Saban can transition away from a pressure-packed, time-consuming profession and instead move towards a fun, peaceful gig with a massive paycheck.

As ESPN announced via a press release, Saban is slated to appear on the popular Saturday morning show College GameDay. It’s also said that Saban will contribute to coverage focused on the NFL Draft and the SEC Network.

While he can be somewhat of a prickly personality, we’ve seen Saban become more and more popular in the public eye — whether that be in commercials or interviews. The fact he’s getting a chance to talk football without the rigors of the sport would seemingly be a new reprieve from what he’s experienced over the last three decades.

As for ESPN, this is a major addition. Saban is a highly-intelligent guy — but also one which is widely recognizable by college football fans across the country. You can bet he will add something special to the preexisting coverage hailing from ESPN.
