Even though we have all of the bowl season still on the docket, it’s never too early to look ahead to 2025.
The betting markets are included in this decision — evidenced by a recent release of the early 2025 Heisman Trophy odds via BetOnline.
According to the site, here’s a list of the early projections:
- Arch Manning (Texas) +600
- Garrett Nussmeier (LSU) +800
- John Mateer (Oklahoma) +900
- Drew Allar (Penn State) +1000
- DJ Lagway (Florida) +1100
- Kevin Jennings (SMU) +1200
- LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina) +1200
- Nico Iamaleava (Tennessee) +1200
- Cade Klubnik (Clemson) +1400
- Conner Weigman (Houston) +1600
- Sam Leavitt (Arizona State) +1800
- Jackson Arnold (Auburn) +2500
The name that jumps out immediately is Manning. The grandson of Archie and the nephew to Peyton and Eli, he came to Texas from the family’s native New Orleans with the hopes of leading this program to a National Championship.
With Quinn Ewers still in the picture — and potentially eligible to come back next year — odds makers must feel pretty strongly that Manning will be the starter next season one way or another. Over the last two seasons, Manning has competed in 10 total games. He’s thrown for 9 TDs and 969 yards through the air.
Nussmeier, Allar, Jennings, Sellers, Iamaleava, and Klubnik are all veteran guys who’ve represented their programs for multiple years. Leavitt will be in his second season as the starter in Tempe for Kenny Dillingham’s rising program.
Arnold and Weigman are mercenaries from the transfer portal hoping to reboot their careers. Arnold (Oklahoma) and Weigman (Texas A&M) have shown flashes throughout their careers, though inconsistency and a plethora of other facts have led them to new programs.
The most interesting player not named Manning on this list is John Mateer. Transferring in from Washington State, the dual-threat Texan is a big-time athlete. Following his offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle from the Palouse to Norman, don’t be shocked by a massive year from Mateer.
