One of the best quarterbacks in the transfer portal officially came off the board Wednesday morning.
Liberty signal-caller Kaidon Salter announced a commitment to Colorado. With Shedeur Sanders expected to leave for the NFL after this year concludes, Salter should ease right into a starting spot under the guidance of head coach Deion Sanders.
Salter has put up some massive numbers for the Flames throughout his career. In parts of four seasons, he’s thrown for 56 TDs to only 17 INTs. His numbers include 5,889 passing yards, 2,006 rushing yards, and 21 rushing TDs.
In Boulder, Salter will be a fifth-year senior — and an obvious Heisman Trophy frontrunner. The Buffaloes did ink elite prep QB Julian Lewis out of Georgia in the 2024 class. However, Colorado can bring him along slowly as Salter takes the reins of the offense next season.
The Big 12 doesn’t appear to have an elite team moving forward. With the division being wide-open, Colorado has as good a chance as any to make a real push for a playoff spot in 2025. Sanders will surely reload in the transfer portal, and there should be no shortage of talent even with his son and Travis Hunter leaving for the next level.
Salter’s dual-threat ability should help what’s been an anemic rushing attack since Sanders got to Colorado. With improved talent up front, there’s little doubt Salter will put up some big numbers.
