The inevitable has finally happened.

According to ESPN basketball guru Shams Charania, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is reported “open minded” for the first time in seeking opportunities away from his current situation.

In other words, don’t be shocked if he’s immediately put on the trade block.

Antetokounmpo would immediately become the biggest star available for trade publicly in years. He’s still well within his prime and is a bona fide future Hall of Famer. Not only that, but he’s proven to be capable in leading a team to an NBA title.

The Bucks are essentially in a no-win situation. The team has virtually no assets from first-round picks to good, young players on the roster. Damian Lillard just tore his Achilles and will be out for at least the next year. At his age, there’s no guarantee he even makes it back heathy.

While all contenders will have interest in Antetokounmpo, lurking in the shadows are the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs. Both teams are flush with draft capital and young players to move. The Rockets may take a big swing given their disappointing postseason exit.

Additionally, the thought of pairing Antetokounmpo with Victor Wembanyama is utterly mind-boggling.
