Former UFC two-weight champion Conor McGregor has announced that he has agreed to box Logan Paul in India. The announcement was made via McGregor’s X account, where he confirmed he was in “preliminary agreements” with fight organizers:
“The rumors of a bout with [Ilya] Topurio are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibit in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”
Mukesh Ambani is the richest man in India and the Ambani family is the ninth-richest family in the world.
Paul is known as a YouTube, WWE, and boxing crossover star. He has already appeared in four boxing fights against KSI (twice), Floyd Mayweather, and Dillon Danis. He won the WWE U.S. National Championship in November 2023, holding the title for 279 days (third-longest in history) before losing it to LA Knight in Summerslam 2024.
Meanwhile, McGregor has appeared in only one professional boxing match against Floyd Mayweather in 2017, which ended in defeat after a 10th-round TKO. The Irishman has also continued to delay his much-anticipated MMA return, a decision that sparked controversy among fans online. The fight agreement also comes less than one month after a Dublin High Court found the fighter liable in a case where a woman said McGregor assaulted her in a hotel room in 2018, requiring him to pay almost $250,000. He said he intends to appeal the decision.
The Irishman’s last fight was in 2021 when he suffered a broken leg in a TKO defeat to Dustin Poirier. He was also scheduled to fight Michael Chandler last June, although had to withdraw due to a foot injury.
No dates have currently been announced for the exhibition.
