Boston finished 2024 with an 81-81 record and improved in the offseason by adding former Astro Alex Bregman and Opening Day starter Garrett Crochet. Crochet faces an immediate test against a Texas lineup that will want to make a strong impression following last year’s letdown.

One of last year’s best stories, the Tigers are looking to build upon their first trip to the postseason since 2014. Led by Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, Detroit upset the Houston Astros in the ALWC before falling to the rival Cleveland Guardians. Now, Skubal will start the year in a pitcher’s duel with first-year Dodger Blake Snell. A two-time Cy Young winner, Snell will look to push the Dodgers to 3-0 on the season.
