Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker and Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman were announced as the MLB’s Chevrolet Players of the Week on Monday.

Tucker was on fire in series against the Athletics and Padres. He went 9-for-23 in six games with 3 HR, 8 RBI, 11 R, and 2 SB. The Cubs went 5-1 last week and are in first place in the NL Central.

The Red Sox stumbled out of the gates, but went 5-0 last week thanks in large part to their newly-acquired offensive star. Bregman was 11-for-27 with 7 extra-base hits. He recorded 6 RBI in Sunday’s 18-7 win over the St. Louis Cardinals to cap off a series sweep.

While Chicago and Boston are happy to see their new players flourish, it’s a tough pill to swallow for fans of the Houston Astros. Tucker and Bregman are both former first-round picks that came up in Houston’s system. Tucker — who is on an expiring deal — was traded to Chicago this past offseason following an injury-riddled 2024 campaign.

The Astros allowed Bregman to walk in free agency after spending nine years with the club. Both were starters and major factors in Houston’s World Series win in 2022.

Now, Tucker is set to sign a major extension at some point — whether it’s with the Cubs or another team in free agency. Bregman is starring for an American League rival who the Astros could potentially face in the postseason.

Tucker returns to Houston as a member of the Cubs for a three-game set beginning on June 27. Bregman and the Red Sox face off against the Astros from Aug. 1-3, and will travel to Houston for a three-game road set starting on August 11.
