One of the most famous golf movies made to date, Happy Gilmore, will soon see a sequel released for those of all generations to enjoy.

Crafted by Happy Madison Productions, Adam Sandler will reprise his iconic role as Happy Gilmore in the upcoming film Happy Gilmore 2. A trailer for the film was released on Tuesday, and we got a glimpse into what we could expect from the film. This includes heavy nostalgia, returning characters from the original film, and the introduction of some new characters.

Longtime writing partner Tim Herlihy worked with Sandler on the project. The two collaborated on the original film, as well as Billy Madison, Big Daddy, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, and others. Directing the film is Kyle Newacheck (Workaholics, What We Do in the Shadows).

The trailer shows a much older Gilmore who’s seemingly stopped playing golf. Some sort of tournament with current professional golfers (featuring real-life pros) is occurring, and that has Gilmore looking to pick up the clubs once more. John Daly makes a brief appearance as a golfing guru giving Gilmore advice.

Sandler’s real-life daughters are in the film. Both Sadie and Sunny have made appearances in several of his movies throughout the years. Professional wrestler MJF (Maxwell Friedman) will be involved — as will Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie, Kid Cudi, and Eminem. Sandler regulars Nick Swardson, Allen Covert, and Dennis Dugan will also be involved.

Of course, you see another Sandler regular in Blake Clark caught doing a rather iconic move seen in other films involving the duo (we won’t spoil it for you). Julie Bowen is back as Virginia Venit — a role originally that helped Bowen break out as a successful actress. Ben Stiller is even back as the secretly evil orderly who ‘took care’ of Gilmore’s grandmother.

While the actors playing grandma (Frances Bay), Chubbs (Carl Weathers), the heckler (Joe Flaherty), Bob Barker (Bob Barker) and Mr. Larson (Richard Kiel) are no longer alive, the most infamous performer WILL be back. Of course, we’re talking about Shooter McGavin himself — portrayed by Christopher McDonald.

The story between Gilmore and McGavin will be the most anticipated of the film. McDonald’s portrayal as the arrogant yet insecure golf legend was one of the better villainous performances from a sports movie in the history of the genre. Seeing those two butt heads yet again 30 years later should be quite funny.

The film is slated to be released via Netflix on July 25th.
