According to sources at The Athletic, Amazon Prime is set to release a documentary on Real Madrid’s 2023/24 UEFA Champions League win.
Last year’s Champions League win saw them defeat German side Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at Wembley Stadium in London, confirming their sixth title in 10 years and their 15th overall title (most in the competition). Manager Carlo Ancelotti also won the competition with Real Madrid in 2021/22, where they defeated Liverpool 1-0 thanks to a heroic Thibaut Courtois performance at the Parc des Princes in Paris.
Per the report, the documentary will follow a similar format to the Apple TV + series Until The End, which documented the 2021/22 Champions League win, and featured interviews from former Real Madrid players such as David Beckham.
Amazon is no stranger to the “fly-on-the-wall” format of football documentaries. They produced a series called All or Nothing, chronicling multiple team seasons such as Manchester City, Juventus, and Arsenal. Their Manchester City documentary revealed their 2017-18 season under manager Pep Guardiola, where they won the Premier League title, Carabao Cup, and broke the record for most points in a Premier League season (100). They have also documented several NFL franchises.
According to the source, Until the End is set to be announced within the next few days, and will premiere shortly after.
HBO is also producing a football behind-the-scenes series. They recently announced the production of a documentary following the US National Men’s Soccer Team leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is set to air in 2026. This upcoming World Cup is set to be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
