“Big” Bronson Reed…welcome to the party.
The Australian wrestler has been on a major heater over the last six months. A member of the RAW brand, he’s turned from a secondary villain into one of the most showcased heels in the business.
It’s a great situation for Reed — a man who was let go from WWE in 2021 after two years with the company. He ventured into the indie wilderness before inking simultaneous deals with New Japan and Impact. Eventually, WWE came calling again at the end of 2022 — turning from a face on NXT to a heel on RAW.
Despite weighing close to 350 pounds, Reed is quite agile — almost mirroring a smaller version of what Bam Bam Bigelow was. Also gifted on the mic, Reed was still struggling to find his footing as a pushable entity.
This was, until August — when out of nowhere he attacked one of the biggest stars in the business, Seth Rollins. Reed unleashed six gigantic splashes off the top turnbuckle (which he calls a tsunami). The production of the match was brilliant. You felt as if Reed hurt Rollins seriously as he was spitting blood up on the mat.
Having now made a name for himself, Reed had an all-out brawl with another sizable figure in Braun Strowman. Reed’s aura became enhanced further when he executed another tsunami — this time off of a concrete wall. He landed on top of Stroman who had been laid out on a car. The windows of the car shattered as the splash hit.
While the rivalry with Rollins has raged on, Reed has since been hired as a mercenary by the new Bloodline faction. He’ll represent the group at WarGames later this month. As the months have gone on, you’ve seen the company allow Reed to do more and more — whether that’s speaking on the mic or flying through the air gracefully for a man his size.
In a recent interview with famed wrestling journalist Chris Van Vliet, Reed spoke about his past as a wrestler on the independent scene, and how he’s barely scratched the surface in WWE as to what he’s capable of.
Based on what we’ve seen recently, it doesn’t appear as if Reed is going anywhere anytime soon.
